Weekly Creative Recap: My Favorite Things, Projects, and Life Lately 💌

ree

Hello there, friends!

It's now a brand new week and I wanted to bring back something I haven't done in a long while - 38 weeks to be exact: my weekly R.E.P.O.R.T.'s. In short, this is a way for me to showcase my recent favorite things in different areas of my life. Each letter of the word stands for a different aspect of my life, and usually I'd go with the regular: reading, eating, playing, obsessing, recommending, and treating. This time, to make it turn into a more creativity-related project, I switched a couple of the letters. Let's get into it: it's time for our - Weekly Creative Recap!

Did you know that you can have access to a library filled with FREE resources for any creative? Check it out here.

Reading - Weekly Creative Recap

Starting with reading really humbled me because I realized that I haven't read a real book in a long time. Being fully transparent, even with my Bible-reading I've been doing terrible lately. So, with that being said, I wanted to start this journey again with something that would spark my interest... Here comes Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way.

So far I'm making my way through the introduction and the first chapter. I think it's really great as it challenges you to think of creativity as a way of life - which is exactly the vibe that I wanted to have in my own personal creative process. You can check it out here on Amazon (this is an affiliated link and I'll get a small commission if you choose to purchase from it - thank you!).

Editing - Weekly Creative Recap

Usually I would have this one for Eating, but I wanted to bring it back into a more creative focus since I haven't done these in so long. My most recent, bigger project lately has been this website. Yes, the one you're in right now. Since I was younger I loved writing blog posts, even when they made no sense (has anything changed?). The truth is that I wanted to change my blog into more of a "creative hub," where other creatives would have a platform to learn more about their skills and have access to free resources.

ree

The last time that I worked on the design of my website was in 2020 so that I would have a way to display my creative work online. The brand itself didn't really grow up until later, but I knew that it was way past the time for me to make some changes.

The biggest thing for me was to make it more like me. I wanted a more journal-ish feel to it; I didn't want everything to be fully structured because I felt like that wasn't me. Finally I can say that I am so happy with the way that the main page and other pages are looking like, but my biggest pride and joy has been the new free resources library.

I encourage you to go and check it out. Currently I have two printables that you can have access to:

  • One of them is a summer decluttering checklist to make sure that you're starting the new season ready and inspired (here)!

  • The second one is a printable page filled with journaling prompts that you can do to combat burnout (here)!

Do you have any requests for files to be shared in the library? Drop your suggestions below and I can get to work!

Playing - Weekly Creative Recap

This one has a very special place in my heart because I am back in touch with my child self. Not only that, but I am willing to share it publicly because for some reason I had so much shame to share how much I love this game... Which game?

ree

With that being said, since a dear friend gifted me my entire computer setup that I've been dreaming about since 2020, I was finally able to showcase my love and to play with it again. Not only that, but I've been able to try out different games that I always wanted to try but never had the right specs for: Fortnite, Call of Duty, and even GTA V (literally had access now that VI is about to come out🤣).

If you want to be gaming buddies, I'd love to add you on Discord so we can play and hangout. Let me know below and I can DM you my information!

Obsessing - Weekly Creative Recap

This one is also a special one for me because it's another thing I often talk about: journaling. I am not exaggerating when I say that journaling has saved my life and I truly believe that God has also used it as a powerful tool for my faith journey as well. With that being said, it's needless to say how excited I was when I learned about a local journaling group that met monthly and crafted together.

A huge shoutout to Sophia for all the hard work that she puts into every single one of these events. It has been an awesome chance to meet new friends and simply just sit there and do creative things together. The best part? The different people you meet. In the same table we had a younger mother with a newborn, an older mother with two babies, me - very much single and childless, and another girl who's in a relationship. It was lovely. Different people from different phases of life coming together to do what they love: arts & crafts. HEALING!

Recommending - Weekly Creative Recap

Now, for this week's recommendation: Notion!

I've been using Notion since high school and it has been a powerful tool to help me in organizing my life. Like... Every aspect of it. From content planning and my content calendar, to keeping track of school assignments and internships. It's amazing! It also has a great collaboration function so you can work on things with your friends too.

As I think more about wanting to start a YouTube channel, I think that doing a full Notion tour and review is like one of the best things to do -- write that down. Anyways, I use the student (free) plan, so I have access to a lot of things, but even the free plan is already amazing.

Treating - Weekly Creative Recap

Now, to how I've been treating myself...

ree

I've never been a coffee girly, no matter how hard I tried.

So, when I noticed that my anemic self would be unable to go through an entire day with some extra help, a friend of mine introduced my to white Monsters back when I worked with the basketball team. It's great! But, please remember to drink it in moderation as it's an energy drink (I'm also saying this to myself, no worries!).

We did it!

So, that's it. This is what I've been up to lately. From my creative processes to my favorite drink, here's what has been happening. Curious to learn more? Follow me here on Wix or on my other social platforms. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can drop them down in the comments or DM me.

Thank you for being here and stay creative!
