3 Creative Tools Every Student Creator Should Use This Semester

ree

Hello there, friend!

If you're anything like me then you know the challenges of juggling classes and assignments while trying to grow in your Creator journey. The truth is that the right tools can save you time and stress so you can work smarter, not harder.

In this post I wanted to share with you the 3 creative tools that every student creator needs to thrive this semester both academically and creatively.

Tool #1: Notion

This one is a regular occurrence in our blog: Notion. Notion is a powerful management tool that you can use to organize everything in one place. It's a great tool for people who are multitasking and have different responsibilities in their life.

Some examples of things that you can do in Notion:

  • Track your assignments and deadlines with tables and calendars

  • Create your own content calendar to manage your social content

  • Compile all your class and meeting notes in one single place

  • Share information with clients and classmates

Although it can be a bit intimidating when getting started, there are many popular tutorials that you can use to figure out how Notion works. If you're interested, here are several helpful websites and resources to help you in your journey:

💡 I also have a Content Calendar template that is available for free in our Resource Library. You can download it and use it for yourself, it's a great tool for beginners with tutorials and other guides that you can use to make it your own.

Tool #2: Canva

As someone who uses Photoshop and is self-taught, it can be challenging to create graphics from scratch when you're just getting started. If you want to save time, Canva is an easy, accessible design tool for non-designers and creatives alike. You can use it on Desktop and on your phone as well.

Here are some examples of things you can do with Canva:

  • Create quick graphics to share on social media to aid in your creative journey

  • Use templates to create presentations, graphics, and even resumes

  • Create group presentations and work simultaneously with your friends

Although it is not fully free for students, there are still a ton of templates that are free and resources that you can take advantage of. On the other hand, if you want to go all in, I'd say that getting a Premium subscription would not be a waste of money.

With a tool that makes your workflow easier, it can mean that you're saving time and having a creativity boost through the work of other creatives as well.

Tool #3: Google Drive

I'll never forget when I was a junior in high school and one day, in the middle of class, my laptop decided to shut down and never turn back on again. At the time, all my notes were taken in Word and it wasn't backed up anywhere. You see where this is going, right? I lost all my notes and work only weeks before I had to take my finals.

Needless to say I learned my lesson. Since then I've always had my notes backed up on Google Drive so I could access them from everywhere. When I began working as a creative, I also used it as a platform to share information and resources with my clients. In college, I used the entire ecosystem and worked on group projects through the platform. Now, in grad school, my entire computer is backed up on Google Drive and I can work from anywhere - including my phone.

You can see this is one of my favorite platforms and one of the only ones I trust to back everything up that I own. Here's a recap of the things that you can use Google Drive for.

  • Create a central hub for storing and sharing your work

  • Work simultaneously on group projects with your classmates or clients

  • Store photo and video to save space in your devices or to share with others

  • Access your files from anywhere, including your phone

Through Google Drive you're able to have simple collaboration and a stress-free experience.

Wrapping up...

So, with all this being said, I wanted to encourage you to try at least one of these today. Even adding one of these tools into your life and workflow can change your productivity and take it to the next level.

What are some other tools that you'd recommend?
