Hey friend!
Managing content can be overwhelming if done wrong. Without proper structure, the content creation process itself can feel like burnout is constantly coming. A lot of times, as creatives, we struggle with organizing, not with ideas. This is where having a good organization system for your content comes in handy. Let's look at the 3 apps I can't live without when it comes to organizing and managing my content. Let's do it!

App #1: Notion
Notion is a powerful tool that you can use to plan your content, store your ideas, and track your projects. These things are key to staying organized as a creative. The reason why it works for creatives is because you have a tool where everything will live in a single place, and it's also flexible enough to match different creative workflows. In other words, you can create a system that works for you. Although the tool can be a bit overwhelming at first, people make templates that are ready for you to use. With a platform like this, you can ensure that you're turning your ideas into action. Here are some examples of how you can use it:
Content calendars
Brain dump and note taking
Tracking posts, platforms, or client work
App #2: Canva
Canva is a well-known design platform. With its ease of use, a lot of people may turn their heads away from it thinking "that's not real design." But it is. Once people are past their prejudice and their own definitions of what it means to be a designer, they can learn that Canva is a powerful tool for designing graphics quickly, creating templates that will make your future-self grateful, and maintaining visual consistency for your brand with ease.
The reason why it works so well for creative sis because it has a very low barrier to entry. You don't have to learn fancy software or navigate Adobe's troublesome apps - you just log in and it's ready to go. Another great reason to use Canva is because it saves you a ton of time, without sacrificing quality. You can still create beautiful graphics in a fraction of the time. Lastly, it's also a tool that makes it easy for you to experiment visually with your work, quickly moving things around and resizing things to make your workflow very easy and practical.
Here are some simple ways that you can use the platform:
Creating social media graphics
Creating layouts for carousels or visual projects
Making content mockups for clients or yourself
App #3: Google Drive
Google Drive is my all in all. My baby. My life-saver. One time in high school I was getting ready for finals and my laptop simply turned off and never turned back on again. Imagine my stress as I tried to look through any files to see if I had my notes saved somewhere else. Since Sophomore year of High School (I'm now 24, about to turn 25), I've learned to back my data into the cloud to keep it safe. This is where Google Drive comes in.
Google Drive, if you're not familiar, is a file storage and organization tool that also allows for content collaboration with basically anyone. It's easy to access your content across your devices, you can keep your projects organized and backed up, and it's also a great tool for professionally sharing files with your clients or teams.
Here are some ways you can implement it into your workflow:
Creating and sharing client folders
Drafts and exports for content
Long-term content archives
How These Apps Work Together
If you liked all of them and would like to implement them, there are some ways that I make sure I'm making them working together. You can use Notion as a place to track and organize your content, back it all up to Drive, and use Canva for creating the actual content. If you're new to content creation, this trio is all you'll need to succeed.
With this structure, you're supporting your creativity instead of limiting it and it allows you to create systems that work for you.
Tips for Choosing the Right Tools
Here's a simple checklist that you can use when trying to find the right tools to support your creative journey and workflow:
Start simple
Don't overcomplicate your workflow
Choose tools that fit your creative style
Allow your systems to evolve
The truth is that your creativity can thrive when you're having the right support. A big reminder is that you don't need every app or system to make your workflow work, you just need the right tools that work for you. If starting with all three feels overwhelming, you can experiment with one tool at a time and see if you can implement it into your current workflow.
So, what now?
